DAVID JENNINGS, 20, abruptly forced into adulthood by the death of his parents.

David (Joseph Mazzello) feels that he was not always the best son he could have been. In an attempt to make amends, he valiantly tries to keep his head and assume the role of his parents. Overwhelmed with the responsibility of caring for his two siblings while trying to cope with his own devastation, David struggles to keep his family together.

JON JENNINGS, 17, growing up but still a kid.

Jon (Nick Heyman) is a star baseball player that has lost not only his parents but his best coach and most devoted fan – his father. Jon is suffocating in his grief, crushed by the memory of the panicked phone call he received from his parents moments before their death. Jon finally manages to channel his emotions into his game, honoring his father by performing with all his heart.

EMILY JENNINGS, 22, distant, withdrawn, consumed by guilt.

As Emily (Rachael Leigh Cook) sees it, her independence and adventurous enrollment in a distant college was the cause of her parents' death; they were on their way to visit her when their plane went down. Her psychological self-torture fogs her mind and her judgment, and she experiments dangerously with substance abuse to numb her pain.

MIKE SANDERSON, 20, David's best friend.

Mike (Michael Hobert) gives David what help and consolation he can, but there is only so much comfort he can offer. He provides a good ear for David, but since he never went through the tremendous loss that David is experiencing, he can't fully enter into David's world.

BARBARA CONRAD, 85, a young mind in an old body.

Although Barbara (Gewn Van Dam) has just lost a daughter, her greater concern is for the future of her suddenly orphaned grandchildren. Her frail health prevents her from providing any substantial physical help, but her reassuring testimony helps David put his regrets to rest.
